THINGS THAT DROVE ME CRAZY THIS WEEK

1.  SARAH PALIN - running around the country getting all the nuts riled up about taxes, when in fact most people paid less taxes this year than last.  Pretending to be the "Hockey mom" when she made 12 million thus far this year since abandoning her job as Governor.  How mucn of that has she given to people who have been unemployed for 2 years and who can't feed their families.

The worst part of her is that she is the biggest hypocrite and phony and there are idiots out there who think shes the real deal.  Well folks, as seen in her speaking contract that was found, she demands Lear Jets, first class tickets should she have to travel with the "little people", lavish suites, and a hefty fee for her folksy, you betcha small talk.  You betcha she is laughing all the way to the bank while she lays on the bull to the morons in this country, and I think the changey, hopey thing is working pretty well for her.  Its made her a multi-millionaire in a short time.

2.  Putting the sleazy skanks that Tiger Woods was fooling around with in a glamourous multi-page spread in Vanity Fair magazine.  Yeah, lets glorify these skanks and send the message to young girls that if you go after a married celebrity and release graphic details about your trysts to the trash mags, you are on your way to fame and fortune.  How proud your parents must be!!

3.  How our Frist Selectman twists the truth to suit his political agenda and feed that enormous ego of his.  He's really just a school yard bully and slowly but surely the seniors and others who thought he wasthe second coming are realizing that he tends to stretch the truth and change the facts to suit his image..  I cannot wait to see the sneery smile of his wiped off his face.

4.  I'm sick of hearing how the economy is recovering, yet the jobless claim rate went up again this week to its highest level! yeah, the guys on Wall Street are riding high, but how about us regular people.

5.  50 is the new 80 when it comes to the current job market.  Its a sad but true fact, if you are over 50 and are an educated and skilled worker, you have a better chance of winning the lottery than finding a decent job.  Now some employers have the nerve to ask for a picture with your resume!  That has to be illegal.  Doesnt that qualify as some kind of discrimination or is that their way of getting around the not being able to ask how old you are?

Well, guess I'm done for today.  More bitching to follow

Another Great week in the Political and Celebrity World

I think celebrities need to find a new "excuse" when caught cheating on their spouses-  The "sex rehab" card has been played once too many times!  Sandra, if you don't divorce Jesse James for his cheating, and even worse, his dog fighting, then they should rename your oscar winning movie The Blind Side to just The Blind!

Don't you think its ironic that Sarah Palin is hosting a show called Sarah Palin's Alaska, when its really not hers anymore since she dumped her job as Governor for the bright lights, big city?  In the world of politics, hypocrite is a commonly used word but she takes it to a new level.  Pretty soon when you look the word up in the dictionary, you will see her face next to it.  It is seriously scary that this woman still has a following, albiet a dangerous and crazy one.

And I am now officially convinced that when it comes to the job market, 50 is the new 80!  When a resume writer tells you to shave ten years of hard earned experience off your resume, you know you're in trouble!

FORGET THE POPE, WE NEED A NOPE!

I was brought up in a very religious Italian Roman Catholic household.  Religion was a HUGE part of my early life and into my 20's.  It was literally jammed down my throat.  My parents NEVER missed church and as I grew up and until I left home, the only excuse for missing church on Sunday was if you were on your deathbed.  And if that were the case, they brought the priest home to you!  Up until the day they died, my parents' faith never wavered and they believed that upon their death, they would be reunited with those loved ones that went before them.  In my heart, I really hope that they did find everlasting peace and happiness in the afterlife, because they spent their whole lives believing that was true!

BUT.........I felt differently than they do, even when I was young.
Although my belief in God was, and still is, strong, I never got anything out of actually going to church.  It was the same thing every week, reciting the same responses to the priest, listening to the same droning sermons, and then going to the car and watching all the holy people that were just inside praying trying to kill each other getting out of the parking lot!

What really turned me off and what I think has ruined many people's faith in the Catholic religion, is all the sexual abuse scandals involving priests molesting young boys.  What's even worse, is that the pastors, bishops, cardinals, all the way up to the pope, KNEW about this widespread abuse and instead of confronting it head-on  and dealing with the priests involved as the pedophiles they are, looked the other way and went to great lengths to cover it up.

WE NEED A NOPE!

The Catholic Church can never recover as long as its Holy Shepherd is seen as a black sheep in the ever-darkening sex abuse scandal.

Now we learn the sickening news that Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, nicknamed “God’s Rottweiler” when he was the church’s enforcer on matters of faith and sin, ignored repeated warnings and looked away in the case of the Rev. Lawrence C. Murphy, a Wisconsin priest who molested as many as 200 deaf boys.

The church has been tone deaf and dumb on the scandal for so long that it’s shocking, but not surprising, to learn from The Times’s Laurie Goodstein that a group of deaf former students spent 30 years trying to get church leaders to pay attention.

“Victims give similar accounts of Father Murphy’s pulling down their pants and touching them in his office, his car, his mother’s country house, on class excursions and fund-raising trips and in their dormitory beds at night,” Goodstein wrote. “Arthur Budzinski said he was first molested when he went to Father Murphy for confession when he was about 12, in 1960.”

It was only when the sanctity of the confessional was breached that an archbishop in Wisconsin (who later had to resign when it turned out he used church money to pay off a male lover) wrote to Cardinal Ratzinger at the Vatican to request that Father Murphy be defrocked.

The cardinal did not answer. The archbishop wrote to a different Vatican official, but Father Murphy appealed to Cardinal Ratzinger for leniency and got it, partly because of the church’s statute of limitations. Since when does sin have a statute of limitations?

The pope is in too deep. He has proved himself anything but infallible. And now he claims he was uninformed on the matter of an infamous German pedophile priest. A spokesman for the Munich archdiocese said on Friday that Ratzinger, running the diocese three decades ago, would not have read the memo sent to him about Father Peter Hullermann’s getting cycled back into work with children because between 700 to 1,000 memos go to the archbishop each year.

Let’s see. That’s two or three memos a day. And Ratzinger was renowned at the Vatican for poring through voluminous, recondite theological treatises.

Because he did not defrock the demented Father Murphy, it’s time to bring in the frocks.

Pope Benedict has continued the church’s ban on female priests and is adamant against priests’ having wives. He has started two investigations of American nuns to check on their “quality of life” — code for seeing if they’ve grown too independent. As a cardinal he wrote a Vatican document urging women to be submissive partners and not take on adversarial roles toward men.

But the completely paternalistic and autocratic culture of Il Papa led to an insular, exclusionary system that failed to police itself, and that became a corrosive shelter for secrets and shame.

If the church could throw open its stained glass windows and let in some air, invite women to be priests, nuns to be more emancipated and priests to marry, if it could banish criminal priests and end the sordid culture of men protecting men who attack children, it might survive. It could be an encouraging sign of humility and repentance, a surrender of arrogance, both moving and meaningful.

Cardinal Ratzinger devoted his Vatican career to rooting out any hint of what he considered deviance. The problem is, he was obsessed with enforcing doctrinal orthodoxy and somehow missed the graver danger to the most vulnerable members of the flock.

The sin-crazed “Rottweiler” was so consumed with sexual mores — issuing constant instructions on chastity, contraception, abortion — that he didn’t make time for curbing sexual abuse by priests who were supposed to pray with, not prey on, their young charges.

American bishops have gotten politically militant in recent years, opposing the health care bill because its language on abortion wasn’t vehement enough, and punishing Catholic politicians who favor abortion rights and stem cell research. They should spend as much time guarding the kids already under their care as they do championing the rights of those who aren’t yet born.

Decade after decade, the church hid its sordid crimes, enabling the collared perpetrators instead of letting the police collar them. In the case of the infamous German priest, one diocese official hinted that his problem could be fixed by transferring him to teach at a girls’ school. Either they figured that he would not be tempted by the female sex, or worse, the church was even less concerned about putting little girls at risk.

The nuns have historically cleaned up the messes of priests. And this is a historic mess. Benedict should go home to Bavaria. And the cardinals should send the white smoke up the chimney, proclaiming “Habemus Mama.”

A special thank you to Tiff for sending me this to post on my blog.

MONEY RULES KIDS SHOULD LEARN

For all of us who have indulged our children maybe a little too much, and even if you haven't, I saw this in the Wall Street Journal and I wanted to share this with you because I think its great advice to pass on to our kids so that they can be fiscally responsible with their own kids.  Its no secret that most of us who are parents now are going to be hard-pressed to leave anything substantial to our kids or grandkids after we are gone, given the current economic climate, the fact that all of us are living alot longer, AND the loss of alot of retirement money in the recent stock market fiasco.

So, these are rules that maybe we should all live by to a degree: There were 15 rules, but these are the ones that I think are the most valuable.

These are things you should teach your children (or grandchildren if its too late for the children)
  • SPENDING MONEY HAPPENS ONLY AFTER YOU EARN IT.
  • GOOD GRADES ARE EXPECTED AND HELP AROUND THE HOUSE IS SIMPLY THE PRICE OF FAMILY LIFE. (read, you don't have to pay kids for grades and chores)
  • WHILE 16 IS GENERALLY THE LEGAL AGE OF EMPLOYMENT, ENCOURAGE KIDS STARTING AROUND AGE 13 TO THINK OF WAYS THEY CAN EARN AN  INCOME.
  • GUIDE AND ADVISE YOUR KIDS ABOUT MONEY, BUT DON'T DICTATE.
  • ONLY 50% OF THE MONEY PUT INTO A PIGGYBANK CAN BE TAKEN OUT TO BUY SOMETHING.  AT LEAST HALF MUST REMAIN INSIDE THE PIG.
  • CHILDREN SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO SCREW UP FINANCIALLY SO THAT THEY CAN LEARN FROM THEIR MISTAKES.
  • PARENTS DON'T HAVE TO SAVE EVERY LAST DIME A CHILD WILL NEED FOR COLLEGE EXPENSES, YOU ONLY HAVE TO SAVE UP TO YOUR ABILITY OR DESIRE TO PAY.
  • ONE OF THE GREATEST GIFTS YOU CAN GIVE YOUR CHILD IS YOUR OWN FINANCIAL SELF-SUFFICIENCY WHEN YOU'RE OLD.
  • AT SOME POINT, YOU HAVE TO TELL YOUR KIDS THAT THE BANK OF MOM AND DAD IS OFFICIALLY CLOSED.
We all love our children, but there comes a point when we are not doing them any favors by being human ATM machines.

If you want to read this whole article, you can find it in the Ct Post, Sunday edition on theWall Street Journal page.

IDIOT OF THE WEEK AWARD!

Rush Limbaugh said if the Health Care Bill passed, he was leaving the country!!

Well, when do you leave Rush? and don't let your big ego get you kicked off the plane- pay for the extra seat!!

What country do you think would want Rush Limbaugh as a resident?
If you take Ann Coulter with you, I'll pay for her ticket - one way, of course.

BIMBO MOMENT OF THE WEEK

After passage of the Health Bill, Sarah Palin targeted states and named those who voted in favor of the health bill by putting a map of the US on her website with crosshairs of states of certain politicians that her followers "should take out". She said she meant in November's election, but she showed sherself as the moron she is by using those words in a willful attempt to incite a violent reaction. If anything should happen to those particular politicians, she should be held accountable as accessory after the fact. Republican or Democrat, I shudder at the thought that this person could have been the vice president of the United States.

Sarah, open mouth, insert moosehead!

Welcome to my Blog!

I have alot to say about a great many subjects, and sometimes wonder if I'm the only one who think s the world is going to hell in a handbasket. I don't understand the obsession we have with celebrities and their lives, with reality shows like Jersey Shore, the Kardashians, The Hills, Real Housewives of anywhere, and all the other reality shows that real people living real lives know are so NOT the reality faced by most people. These shows are horrible influences on teenagers, especially girls, and expose all the things that responsible parents are trying to teach their kids NOT to do, all the while glamorizing inappropriate behavior and throwing tons of cash at these shallow, crude, classless materialistic idiots! And as women who work hard trying to balance family and career, why are we promoting these spoiled, selfish, catty, rich housewives, enabling them to brand themselves and become richer and more spoiled than they already are on our dime? Are they adding jobs to the economy, or putting money in your pocket?

I'm also very disturbed about the pleasure we all seem to take in the misery of celebrities cheating spouses, most recently regarding Sandra Bullock. The poor woman's humiliation at her husband's infidelities with a string of swastika-covered bad girls looking to make a quick buck on the misery of others has been encouraged by the media to the extent that it is encouraging blackmail on a grand scale. I thought blackmail was illegal!! If we keep rewarding these girls for bad behavior, we are contributing to the continuing demoralization of our society. How stupid are these high-profile men who engage in this illicit behavior, and use texting, voice mails, and video to document these trysts? Have they learned nothing from all the famous people whose lives have been ruined and careers shattered as a result of the very same thing??? Hello, has anyone heard of former President Bill Clinton, Tiger Woods, Elliott Spitzer, John Edwards, and John Sanford just to name a few? Are they really that dumb or do they want to get caught?? I don't really care what happens to these ego-inflated idiotic men , but they have wives, children whose lives are impacted in such a devastating way and then played out day after day for the public, eager to hear every little juicy detail. What has become of human compassion? Think about how you would feel if this was your life on display for everyone to snicker about.

I think we have all become so disappointed with our own lives, that we enjoy seeing others in misery, especially famous people who seem to have it all. But we're just feeding into this whole thing and the bad guys are getting RICH! Are you?

Get a grip everyone! Maybe we need to re-evaluate our own priorities and use the time and energy we spend following these "people" to do something that will benefit people in need, or even ourselves!!! Tell me what you think!
